Australian Mining Storeperson and Employment

Mine companies have tons of inwards and outwards goods and are always in need of many a storeperson to run this. A storeperson position within the mining industry will spend much of his or her time with forklifts and logistical paper work. A typical day for a storeperson would include operating forklifts for the unloading and loading of trucks and general warehousing duties.

If you are interested in becoming a storeperson on an Australian mine site, you'll want to beat the competition out of the water. The mining industry is highly competitive, especially for positions that require less physical labour (such as a storeperson, chefs, cleaners, dump truck drivers, etc.). Of course, previous experience is the most sought after quality, but you'll also need special certifications in order to be able to work on a mine site. This is strictly because of safety registrations and the like. Prior to applying for a storeperson position on a mine site, you'll want to look into these requirements and achieve them successfuly.

There are many mine sites all over Australia. There is probably a storeperson position available in a location near you, but if not, you can always look into FIFO positions. These jobs give you the benefit of travel along with the storeperson position. Employees are flown to the site to work for a few weeks at a time, and then flown out back home for a few weeks at a time.

A storeperson position is ideal for you if you:

- have a driver's license for the state you wish to work in
- have a forklift licence
- have first aid certification
- can pass a police clearance
- able to pass pre-employment medical
- willing to gain all of the above if currently without

If you have been thinking about joining the mining industry as a storeperson, or maybe a different position, there is no better time to get started than the present.
