Australian Mining Labourer Jobs and Employment

Jobs on a mine site can often be physically demanding, especially if you are a labourer. However it can be very rewarding too, with mine companies offering you much higher salaries for doing a similar job you could have been doing back home. If you're keen to secure this type of job then you may want to know about training options for your area, any licences that might be needed, the required safety training, whether your employer will cover your training costs, how soon you can start, whether travel and accommodation will be provided, and which jobs might suit you.

Considering there is a large number of mine sites located throughout Australia, you might be able to find a labouring position, or other mining job near your home. Otherwise you may be interested in a fly in/ fly out (FIFO) position. A typical day for a labourer could include helping tradespersons when required, cleaning and maintaining mining equipment, operating power tools, assisting in the operating of heavy machinery and collecting mineral samples. A labouring position is ideal for you if you hold a current drivers license or can easily obtain one, have a background in a similar position, can pass a pre-employment medical examination and police check and have, or can get, a current first aid certificate.

EVen if you don't have any previous labouring experience you still have a chance to be employed in the mining industry. There are many mine companies who are willing to take on unskilled employees who are willing to put in a hard day's work. The average age for labourers in the mining industry is 36 years, so if you have the impression you need to be fresh out of school to obtain a labouring role then you are mistaken. Contact our staff to find out what we can do to help you on your journey to mining employment.
